Can you believe it?! Another year is upon us and the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day, February 14th is fast approaching. This year it falls on a Sunday, so we have some ideas of things to do in the locality and gifts to buy for those special people in your life…
Local Area
Weather permitting, there is nothing quite like a romantic stroll down Dún Laoghaire Pier with its magnificent views over Dublin Bay. The Lighthouse at the end of the East Pier now hosts a Teddies Ice-cream shop so you can look out over the bay whilst enjoying a delicious ice cream from one of the most famous establishments in Ireland! If you fancy trying something new, why not drop into Scrumdiddly’s Ice Cream Parlour on Crofton Road in Dún Laoghaire which offers over 2,400 combinations for you to choose from. Opening hours are 12 noon to 9 pm 7 days a week. Equally romantic for a romantic walk is Killiney Hill, which offers fabulous views out over the surrounding mountains and sea.
Events
Over Valentines Weekend, the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire has Frances Black & Kieran Goss performing in concert on Saturday night, 13th February at 8 pm. Or you could enjoy a romantic afternoon movie with ‘Roman Holiday’ starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck showing in the Pavilion Theatre at 4 pm on Sunday 14th. Tickets for these events are available from the Pavilion box office on 01 231 2929.
